We're looking for a Japanese-speaking Intel Collection Associate (Geopolitical) to join our Trust & Safety team, supporting the Japan market.

In this role, you'll conduct open-source research to identify emerging issues, monitor online conversations, assess potential risks, and support efforts to prevent product abuse.

Due to the nature of the role, successful candidates must possess a deep understanding of Japan's local context, including its news environment, current affairs, social media landscape, internet communities, cultural references, and geopolitical developments.

Native Japanese candidates who are able to relocate to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are strongly encouraged to apply.

Candidates with substantial experience living and working in Japan, along with a strong understanding of Japan's evolving social, political, and cultural landscape, are also welcome to apply.

Below is the detailed job description:

Job Scope

• Search the internet daily for any potentially damaging issues and user risks

• Log leads found via open-source intelligence, allowing stakeholders to take action

• Assist on ad hoc projects aimed at preventing product abuse for the client

• Monitor situations and provide up-to-date information cross-functionally

• Work with analysts to research various topics and keywords to provide early warning signals for current events and trends happening globally

• Acknowledge and stay up to date on all team process updates

Job Qualifications

• BA/BS degree. The ideal candidate will have majored in political science, journalism, international relations, history, or a related field

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders

• Ability to remain calm under pressure and perform effectively in urgent and developing situations

• Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese

• Fluent in English (Speaking/Writing/Reading)

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of international and geopolitical events and how they may impact a global company

• Strong technical competency, with a data-driven and analytical approach to identifying and monitoring developing trends

• Strong interest in the internet, pop culture, news media, history, and current events

• Knowledge of internet technologies and related policy and regulatory environments

• High degree of initiative and ability to work effectively under deadlines

• Customer service or client-facing experience is preferred

• Basic knowledge, education, experience, or a strong interest in open-source intelligence (OSINT) gathering and social media monitoring is a plus
