Primary Duties & Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Payroll Processing
Process monthly payroll cycles (including off-cycle runs if needed)
Collect, validate, and input payroll data (attendance, overtime, bonuses, deductions)
Calculate gross-to-net salaries, taxes, and social contributions
Ensure accurate and timely salary payments
2. Statutory Compliance (China-specific)
Handle Individual Income Tax (IIT) calculations and filings
Administer social insurance and housing fund (SI & HF) contributions
Prepare and submit statutory reports (monthly, quarterly, annual)
Stay updated on China labor laws and payroll regulations
3. Data Management & Reporting
Maintain payroll records and employee data in HR/payroll systems
Prepare payroll reports (labor cost reports, variance analysis, audit reports)
Support year-end activities (annual tax filing, reconciliation)
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with payroll vendors and government authorities
Partner with HR and Finance on payroll inputs and reconciliations
Respond to employee payroll queries
5. Controls, Audit & Process Improvement
Perform payroll checks and reconciliations before/after payroll run
Support internal/external audits
Identify process improvements and automation opportunities
Qualifications & skills
Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or related field.
0–3 years of payroll or HR operations experience, preferably with China payroll.
Basic understanding of payroll calculations & knowledge of China payroll
Experience with payroll systems eg ADP, SAP, UKG, GAIA etc
Eagerness to learn and grow in a global payroll environment.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Problem-solving mindset
Good communication (English + Mandarin usually required)
